CLUB RULES

WAITARA KAYAK & MULTISPORT CLUB RULES

As a Club, we are committed to ensuring members remain safe, by observing Water Safety Standards.

The Club has a responsibility to build a culture of safety in our sport, and promotes personal responsibility to achieve this.

By using our Club & facilities we expect you to take responsibility to observe our Rules.

·      It is recommended that Buoyancy Vests are worn at all times.
·      Buoyancy Vests must be worn upstream of the highway bridge.
·      Buoyancy Vests must always be worn during winter evening training sessions above the highway bridge.
·      Helmets must be worn upstream of the Big Rock rapid.
·      To ensure safety of fellow members, buddy-up when kayaking upstream of the Big Rock rapid, and during winter evening training sessions.
·      The club is committed to obeying Water Safety Standards.
·      You are responsible for your own safety, which includes preparation of boat and equipment, and compliance with club rules.
·      Safe Kayaking, in any water condition, means you must evaluate conditions & your abilities, before you enter the water. If in doubt…don’t enter the water.
·      We highly recommend you always paddle with a buddy.
·      This facility is our club asset. Please take responsibility to keep the shed clean and free of rubbish.
·      We are committed to keeping the River free of Didymo.  Every club boat after use, must be washed down externally, with the inside swabbed dry.
·      Please remove your rubbish, food supplement sachets, and empty bottles.
·      The Club rooms must be left secure by locking the door after you whether you are
paddling, or leaving for the day.
·      No body can use the kayak, paddle or equipment belonging to another, without prior permission.
·      Club Boats and Paddles can be used but only with the permission of a fellow club member.
·      Club Boats and paddles can only be used on the Waitara River, no further than the entrance to Big Rock Rapid.

Enjoy the river …. Safe paddling.
